The STAR AquaCenter is a long standing dream for the Town of Southampton. Originally conceived in 1989, the idea for a community aquatics center in the Southampton area has been carried since then by dedicated project champions. We now find ourselves at the culmination of these efforts. In no other time in history have we been as close to making this dream a reality as we are right now. There is just one component missing: you.

Joy Flynn
Board Chair
Joy Flynn
Joy, a retired Assistant Superintendent, Three Village Schools in Stony Brook, received her BS from Cornell U; MS from Michigan State U; and Ed.D, from St. John’s U. She is a swimmer and international senior competitor in track & field. For the past 8 years she’s been the president of the Southampton Democratic Club and Democratic committeewoman. Current VP for the Town of Southampton Dark Skies Advisory Board, a Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener, a Federated flower show judge, the past-president of the Westhampton Garden Club, and current WGC Conservation Chair, caring for the environment has always been Joy’s primary concern. For 7 years she has been taking 3 Mexican American children to weekly swimming lessons. Joy is committed to the STAR project because she believes in the power of swimming to transform and to protect the lives of children.

Allison Morrow

Allison Morrow
Allison‘s professional experience is extensive and diverse. Serving as a former Trustee at the Parrish Art Museum, the First Presbyterian Church in New York City, and the First Presbyterian Church New York City Nursery School, her past board participation is exceptional. Her present involvements span healthcare as a Trustee at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, academia as a Trustee at Hobart College, and culture as a Bryant Fellow at the Metropolitan Museum. Allison’s career is in Debt Capital Markets & Foreign Exchange, and she is currently manager of several family offices. An avid swimmer, Southampton local, and co-chair of STAR’s Development Committee, Allison is a valued member of the STAR AquaCenter Board of Directors.

Nathan Reese

Nathan Reese
Nathan Reese joined our Board of Directors in February 2025, bringing with him over two decades of expertise in real estate finance and fixed income securities. Most recently, Nathan served as the Chief Operating Officer at New York Mortgage Trust, Inc., where he oversaw a $4B+ investment portfolio encompassing single-family and multifamily residential properties. His responsibilities included Treasury, Servicing, Information Technology, Human Resources, Legal, and Office Management. Before joining NYMT, Nathan honed his skills at the Vanguard Group in Malvern, PA. This diverse experience in managing large-scale projects and financial oversight will be invaluable as we navigate the complexities of funding and building our indoor pool facility.
Nathan holds a B.S. in Finance from LaSalle University, where he was also a member of the Division I Swim Team. Originally from California, he spent his early years as a beach lifeguard and YMCA swim instructor.

An indoor pool would give local children the chance to learn vital swim skills, explore their potential as athletes, and develop a lifelong love for the water. As a father of three, I know firsthand how essential it is for children to grow up with access to these life-changing experiences.”

Jimmy Mack

Jimmy Mack
Jimmy’s adult life has centered on the themes of water safety and enjoyment, and life-saving and health. Raised in Westhampton Beach, he has given his heart and soul to the Southampton community. A former ocean lifeguard; renowned top fundraiser as The Mermaid at the Polar Bear Plunge for Heart of the Hamptons; Southampton Volunteer Ambulance driver, EMT, CPR/AED/First Aid instructor, board member, and former chief; top fundraiser for The Edie Windsor Center for LGBT/HIV health care; planner for Sunset on the Harbor to benefit the LGBT Network of the Hamptons: these are just a few of Jimmy’s projects to benefit the East End.

Sean Crowley
Sean Crowley
Sean retired from Sag Harbor Schools after 34 years as a Physical Education Teacher and Coach of Athletics. For decades, Sean has lifeguarded and taught swimming at four different Long Island municipalities. Since 1992, he has been the Chief Lifeguard of Town of Southampton east beaches including Sagg Main, Mecox, Scott Cameron, Flying Point and Long Beach. Since retiring, much of his time has been at the YMCA pool as an assistant coach of the age-group Hurricane Swim Team. Sean also swims and coaches with the adult Masters program, and gives swim lessons to beginning swimmers. He travels each summer to USLA Lifeguard National Championships with Hampton Lifeguard Association (HLA) as an assistant coach and age group competitor. As a Southampton town local, passionate swimmer, and swimming educator, he is committed to the development of the STAR AquaCenter for its list of community health and safety benefits.

A lifelong resident of Southampton, Maria’s family has been here for 4 generations. Maria is a local business owner and avid swimmer who became passionate about this project in order to promote swimming as not only a recreational activity, but also as a life skill that is essential to living on the East End, surrounded by water. Maria got involved in this project because she believes that it is an important & essential part of our community.

Bridget Fleming
Bridget Fleming
A former County Legislator and East End Town Board member with more than 20 years of government experience, Bridget Fleming now serves as Vice President of Economic development and Land Use at McBride Consulting & Business Development Group with headquarters in Melville, Long Island. She is recognized for a knack for breaking down complex challenges to focus on practical outcomes. She relies on this well-honed skill, along with her extensive understanding of local government, to help clients meet their goals.

Honors, affiliations, and career history
Bridget Fleming served four terms on the Suffolk County Legislature, representing the Second Legislative District, which included the Towns of East Hampton, Southampton, Shelter Island, and parts of Brookhaven. She focused on environmental sustainability, the creation of clean energy jobs, Sanitary Code amendments to improve septic systems, improvements to public transportation, affordable housing, and economic revitalization. Prior to serving on the Legislature, she was elected twice to the Southampton Town Board, where she worked on improvement of waste management practices, the creation of affordable housing, promotion of agriculture, and environmental sustainability planning, She served as a criminal prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Hunter College, and a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law where she received the prestigious Kramer Public Service Award and the Bracewell & Patterson Oral Advocacy Award. She holds a Certificate in Mediation Skills for Professionals from John Jay College and is a recipient of the Long Island Oyster Grower Association’s Pearl of a Person Award, as well as Sustainable Long Island’s Getting It Done Award.
Fleming lives with her husband and their beloved dog Rose in their home of 24 years in Sag Harbor. They have one adult son who is an undergraduate at Tulane University.

Charles Manger
Charles Manger
Charles Manger is the Sales Manager for Compass Real Estate, overseeing the Southampton and Westhampton Beach offices. Charles has been part of the Southampton Village community his entire life.
Charles achieves success through data driven work decisions, clearly defined work responsibilities, and lean business practices. In more than 25 year of process improvement, personnel management, and cost reduction, he has achieved implementing technological advance, talent development, and financial gains for the businesses and organizations that he led. MSI Pros recognizes these skills and strategies as a foundation for long-term success, while serving our public and private sector customers.
He gave back to the by working with the Federal Government. He successfully executed the mission of helping small businesses and socio-economic small businesses achieve greater opportunities in Federal contracts. A specific lasting improvement was his development of the Certified Subcontracting Matrix a benchmarking tool that increased opportunities for small businesses through subcontracting. This tool is being considered as a government-wide application.
Prior to his Federal Service, Charles worked at UBS Financial in New York, NY in the business development arm of a wealth management team. His team managed a 100-plus family portfolio in excess of $1.5B. Charles also spent two years working at JP Morgan Chase with the same team in a similar capacity.
Prior to his career in finance, Charles served as Senior Vice President & Executive Director of Eastern Long Island for Brown Harris Stevens, a real estate firm where he managed 150 agents and approximately $500 million in sales. Charles also spent over ten years managing the New York presence of some of the world’s most recognizable high-end retail brands, including Nautica, Asprey, and Ralph Lauren.
Charles received a B.A. from St. Lawrence University in 1993, where he competed on the varsity swim team. He maintains a passion for athletics and fitness, and enjoys traveling.

Liz Parry
Liz Parry
Recognized as a two-time Dan’s Papers Power Women of the East End Honoree and Hall of Fame inductee, Liz has been featured in New York Magazine, Business Insider, and Business Traveler. With over 24 years of experience, she has developed a unique swim methodology blending Montessori principles, multi-sensory learning, and play-based instruction.
Why I’m Involved:
Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1-4 and it is critical that this community (and surrounding ones) have access to a pool to teach these critical life skills. I am passionate about ALL people having access to not only exercise in the water but the ability learning a skill that saves lives.
